LESSONS ON THE LABYRINTH

Music echoing between giant stone columns, crystal bowls, a labyrinth... Yoga at Grace Cathedral is absolutely an other wordly experience. I mentioned what a well kept secret it is before when Jamie Lindsay was teaching. Fortunately for us, Jamie's friend, Darren Main, agreed to take over his spot when he moved to NY and the church was adamant about keeping the class going.

Not to take away from Jamie at all, but the class has only gotten better. Darren often invites friends to join the practice and help set the mood by playing music. Just a few weeks ago Sam Jackson from Vibrant Stillness performed with his collection of crystal bowls. The sound was beautiful! It was unlike anything I've experienced before. Lucky for us, Sam has agreed to play the first Tuesday of each month. I highly recommend joining in. As before, it's every Tuesday at 6:15 and is entirely donation based.

GRACEFUL POSES

It can be easy for me to get caught up in all the places I'd like to go, but I have to be really careful not to forget the wonders in my own backyard. Tonight, I had the pleasure of practicing yoga at Grace Cathedral, just two blocks from my house. Not only is the setting idyllic, but it's free! The class is held every Wednesday at 6:15. It has been taught by Jamie Lindsay for the past 15 years.

We spread our mats around the labyrinth and I laid there looking up at the French Gothic ceiling above me. At one point the tower bells rang and I could feel the bell chimes reverberating through the cold floor at my fingertips. You just don't get those kind of chances every day!

Unfortunately for us, Jamie is moving to New York and his last class will be on July 22nd. If we want this special class to continue, then its important that we let Grace Cathedral know it. I encourage you to contact them whether you're a long time participant, a new-comer like me, or would like to try it sometime in the future.
